Beautiful Lakes Near Vancouver

Want to cool off in the hot summer sun? These warm lakes and swimming holes are all a short drive from the city of Vancouver.

1. White Pine Beach

The warmest lake within a short drive from Vancouver. There is a couple of sandy beaches and a dock where young people like to hang out.

2. Alice Lake

This beautiful lake is a short drive from Squamish. It is within Alice Lake Provincial Park, which offers camping near the lake, a place for campfires and an excellent trail system.

3. Sooke Potholes

An absolutely amazing swimming hole north of the town Sooke on the Island with excellent pools, cliff jumping, and lots of great waterfalls. It’s worth doing a roadtrip there and camping.

4. Alta Lake

This lake is a 10-minute drive from the resort town of Whistler. An excellent place for swimming, kayaking and windsurfing with the mountains of Whistler and Blackcomb as your backdrop.

5. Whyte Lake

A 45-minute hike from Eagle Harbour in West Vancouver, Whyte Lake is a crystal clear mountain lake on Cypress Mountain with a small dock and warm water for swimming.

6. Cultus Lake

By Kyle Pearce The biggest lake near Vancouver for boating, camping and summer parties. In addition to numerous sandy beaches there is the biggest waterpark on the BC Coast.

7. Brohm Lake

This peaceful lake is just off the Sea to Sky highway past Squamish and it has beautiful old growth trees, a rope swing and cliff jumping.

8. Lost Lake

This emerald lake is a short hike or bike from the Blackcomb village. You can lounge on the sandy beach or swim out to the floating platform in the middle of the lake.

9. Cascade Falls

Enjoy this spectacular 98-foot waterfall and a series of pools for swimming and cliff jumping. Go on a really hot day because the water here can be chilly!

10. Jones Lake

This beautiful lake, between Chilliwack and Hope, overlooks the glacier-capped mountains of the Cascade Range. There is an excellent campground run by BC Hydro at the south end of the lake.
